Miss United States 2008

Introducing Miss United States 2008 ~ Brittany Williams!

It has finally hit me; I am Your Miss United States 2008! After taking a while for it to sink in, I hit the ground running. Now it has been over two months and I am wondering where the time went. Then I look back at my calendar and see all that I have done so far. Oh yeah, there it went.

I have had a pretty exciting schedule since my crowning moment on that stage at The Orleans in my own Fabulous Las Vegas. From one week being surrounded by phenomenal women to the next, the following week after Miss United States was the Mrs. United States where I finally met the wonderful Mrs. Stephanie Hunt, as she crowned her successor Mrs. Garianne Gunter, Mrs. United States 2008. Following that was my first autograph signing at the Grand Opening of Patty's Closet, one of my favorite stores and a very generous sponsor.

Soon thereafter it was off to the east coast. In addition to visiting family and friends, I had my first official photo shoot as Miss United States 2008 with a fantastic photographer in Virginia Beach by the name of Keith Cephus and another shoot in Richmond for a great sponsor, Michael Taylor who will be designing each of our walk away gowns for the 2009 pageant. Before returning home, there was more business to be done. Together with, Chris Wilmer, Virginia United States director, Miss Virginia Teen, Elle Bunn, Miss Virginia Jr. Teen, Kelsee Grant, took a little road trip our nations capital to the House of the Temple, the National Headquarters for the Scottish Rite where we discussed with the Sovereign Grand Commander, Ronald Seale, among others.

After returning home, I was a guest at the Ms. Senior Nevada pageant and then was able to show off my culinary expertise as a cook for the Ronald McDonald House, followed by another autograph signing at the Mountain's Edge Music Festival and I was also a guest speaker and student at the Las Vegas Belly Dance Intensive. After a short break, I was back at it with an action packed week. I first started as a volunteer at Stand Up for Kid's Day where I was able to act like a kid, and bring awareness to a plethora of children's issues. The following night was great too. Nina's Night Out is an annual event benefiting the Rape Crisis Center in Las Vegas. I assisted in the live auction at the VIP party where we made lots of money to build a new state of the art center and enjoyed a concert with none other than Jessica Simpson. After all that excitement, I ran to the airport to catch my flight to North Carolina. The weekend started with a meeting at the Charlotte Scottish Rite who will host our first ever North Carolina United States pageants! That evening it was off to the red carpet for pictures and interviews at Charlotte Fashion Week. The next day was an appearance at the Charlotte Southern Women's Show where we accepted a great welcome from the Queen City of Charlotte. Then, it was back to the hotel to prepare for the fashion show. This time I was actually going to hit the runway. It was an amazing night and I looked very fierce if I can say so myself! I also met host and designer Carmen Webber, from Project Runway Season 4.

Next on my agenda is a fundraiser at the Venetian Hotel for Spread the Word Nevada, which I have volunteered for through the last school year, and which was named Non-Profit of the year.

So I guess you can say I have done a few things here and there as Miss United States 2008. I am so blessed and excited to have this title this year and fully intend on making the best of it. My crowning moment was undoubtedly amazing, but when I crown my successor in July of 2009, that will truly be a magical moment. By no means am I ready for this amazing journey to be over. However, the true measure of my success will be by everything that I have accomplished, how much I have grown, and the legacy that I will have left for future Miss United States to build upon.

What's next? I don't know. I guess you will have to come back and see what other interesting things I can get myself into. Until then keep your head up to the sky and your feet on the ground. For more pictures, blogs, information and fun stuff visit my website www.Only1QueenB.com
